WordPress Emoticons
Dec 30th, 2007 by Mike
Something I’ve noticed in my travels around various WordPress blog sites, is that many people seem to think it requires some special knowledge to use WordPress emoticons. Well, it doesn’t!
So what is an emoticon?
Emoticons are little icons, usually used to represent an emotion the writer is feeling. For example
I’m feeling happy. Or
I’m feeling very happy. Or
I’m feeling sad. So how do they work and how do you embed them in your text?
Easy! An emoticon is just normal text which is automatically (By code within WordPress) turned into an icon. Following is a list of typed characters and the icon they produce: -
:) = ![]()
:D = ![]()
:( = ![]()
:o (Lower case o not zero) = ![]()
8O (Upper case O not zero) = ![]()
:? = ![]()
8) = ![]()
:x = ![]()
:P = ![]()
:| = ![]()
;) = ![]()
 = ![]()
 = ![]()
 = ![]()
 = ![]()
 = ![]()
 = ![]()
:!: = ![]()
:?: = ![]()
 = ![]()
 = ![]()
 =
I hope I didn’t miss any ![]()

I started my own blog today and very excited to make it work but I do not have the knowledge of exactly what I should do. Can you please explain in short what I should do.
There aren’t really any rules. Your blog is yours, and what you make of it is entirely up to you.
Hey I would just like to know whether you can give tips on blog? Like healthy tips etc.
Hey Mike
